Recently I have been obsessing about food and nutrition. It’s not like I haven’t always been a foodie, quite the contrary, but now I have started being more and more interested in the different fruits, veggies, nuts and what not and their benefits for our wellbeing.
The idea is to find the best recipes that include these foods and prepare them on a daily basis. And today it is all about America’s favorite: pancakes and almonds.
Benefits of Almonds in Pancakes
Not only will these pancakes get an interesting texture, they will also provide you with many different benefits.
Healthy Brain Function
Almonds are rich in riboflavin and L-carnitine, nutrients that have a positive effect on our neurological system, making almonds a great brain fruit.
Healthy Heart Function
The reason behind almonds being so beneficial for the cardiovascular system is they contain healthy monounsaturated fatty acids. They also contain great antioxidants and are proven to lower the bad (LDL) cholesterol and regulate blood pressure, which makes them a truly strong weapon against cardiovascular disease.
Since they abound with Vitamin E, and as mentioned above, they contain antioxidants (catechin, epicatechin, and flavonol), almonds aid in keeping the skin hydrated and make it less susceptible to aging.
So, including almonds in your pancake batter will not only provide for a delicious nutty flavored stack, but it will also prove beneficial for our main organs.
Almond Ingredients in Pancake Recipes
Now that we’ve established how beneficial almonds truly are, let’s see how can they be implemented in pancakes.
This non-dairy milk is the principle choice of people with a lactose intolerance, or on a vegan diet, but almond milk should become a product us, regular fellas, should be consuming on a daily basis. Healthy bones, glowing skin and a fit body are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of this milk.
This flour is a great alternative to regular all-purpose flour because it is made entirely out of almonds, meaning it will have all the benefits of raw almonds. Your pancakes will get a nutty flavor and a very interesting texture.
You can add some slivered almonds, either raw or roasted. They can be folded into the batter, which will give your pancakes a certain crunchiness, or, they can be used as a topping together with blueberries, maple syrup or other nuts.
